Logo: AN EXTREMELY RARE "ILLINGWORTH " LIGHT SPINNING REEL WITH MAKERS ORIGINAL BOX, CIRCA 1930'S

WHOLE CANE RODS

Whole Cane Rods, most with finely spliced split cane tip sections can be found on this page.

Materials used to make these rods were mainly Tonkin Cane and Spanish Reed.

Although not as desirable and sought after as full split cane rods they still have a place in our angling heritage.

Sheffield, Nottingham and Thames were just three of the famous styles that these rods was manufactured to.

Most of these rods were primarily used for what was known as bottom fishing and they became a useful weapon with the early 1940's and 1950's match anglers whose numbers were growing at that time.

Due to the fine spliced split cane tip section on these rods they were mainly used for fine float fishing on rivers, canals and lakes targeting the smaller coarse species such as roach, bream, rudd, and dace etc.

The range of rods shown here are fully restored to their original specifications as far as possible.

Have a look at these classic rods and contact me if you have any questions.
